Regional
Italy is divided into 20 regions very different with regards to geography, history and traditions. The territory includes the Italian peninsula (which extends from the southern side of the Alps to the heart of the Mediterranean Sea) and two large islands (Sicily and Sardinia). The Italian regions offer a variety landscape that is among the most appreciated in the world by striking alpine mountains to fertile Po plain, through the seductive scenarios of Apennine down to the hot and bright Mediterranean coast.
The prolonged separation of regions of Italy, for centuries divided into several states that have often experienced foreign domination, has also given a very special fragmentation in terms of folklore. This rich variety of traditions combined with boundless profusion of flavors and fragrances of its exceptional artistic and archaeological heritage have led the undisputed primacy of the goal to Belpaese as holiday destination.
